2016 Book and Bake Sale
The Wells Village Library is pleased to announce some new programs and opportunities!
Craft Programs will be held on Mondays (usually the third Monday of the month) throughout the year at 6:30pm. Please call, check the website, or see our Facebook page for dates of classes taught by local artisans, jewelry makers, painters, and craftspersons who donate their time, skills, and materials.
The classes are on a temporary hiatus. Thank you to Peg Browe for all her past efforts in arranging these opportunities for the community. Please call the library or visit us on Facebook to let us know if you would like to have the craft classes again. What would you like to learn to do?
If you have a talent and would like to share please stop by the library and let us know. Thanks so much!
WELLS VILLAGE LIBRARY BOOK CLUB
Our next book club is on June 28, 2017, at 1pm.
Everyone is welcomed to join us even if you can only come occasionally!
The Book Club typically meets at the library the fourth Wednesday of the month at 1pm. However, occasionally these dates change due to inclement weather, holidays, or the schedules of the authors. Please call or check the website for changes. Joy Brewster is the moderator.
Occasionally we will invite local authors to our meetings to discuss their book. Check our website for more information.
ARM CHAIR TRAVEL
Another program at the library is called Arm Chair Travel where we will have guests who have traveled to different countries and who are willing to share stories and photos about thier travels and give us a bird's eye view of the beauty of our world.
We have already 'traveled' to Novia Scotia, Vietnam, Italy, Ireland, Korea and Australia! Please check back for dates and times. We look forward to seeing you there.
The Lights of Wells Program takes place in December on the village green in front of the library. It is a beautiful, heartwarming community event which includes both churches. The library will be decorated with books and items celebrating the many ways people enjoy the holiday seasons. People are invited to enjoy the cookies and cocoa in the library. The horse drawn wagon rides and the arrival of Santa to light the tree will add to the magic of the evening. Our thanks to all the community groups who help make the evening memorable.
Summer Reading Program
The theme for 2017 is Building a Better World. We have lots of activities planned. Please check back for dates for our origami class and our comic book program this coming summer.
Joanne Van Meter, Erin Thompson, and Peg Browe worked tirelessly to make the 2016 Summer Reading Club a success. "ON YOUR MARK, GET SET, READ" provided a free program for children aged 3 to 8 years old on Wednesdays at 10:00am. The children fueled their engines with stories, activities, crafts, and a snack.
We occasionally show free movies to the public on Friday evenings. All movies are not appropriate for all audiences. Some of the movies will have a PG-13 or R rating for language and violent content. Please check back for more details.
Wells Village Parents, Teachers, and Faculty from Wells Village School or Other Local Communities
Come join us at the Wells Village Library to gain a better understanding of the Common Core State Standards, PLP's, and IEP's.
We are also interested in any thoughts from patrons about workshops or learning sessions in which they may have an interest. Our patrons have diverse, varied, and fascinating interests and pastimes they may enjoy sharing, e.g. local and Vermont history, education law, applied behavior analysis, beautiful arts and crafts, dancing, quilting, cooking, photography, genealogy, local villians, ghost stories, gravestone rubbings, equine behavior, community service, travel, science, mathematics, computers, Native American teachings, and horticulture, just to name a few. Please call Erin or Joy at 802-645-0611 to express an interest you may have, and we will try to schedule things in which people express as interest.
During the summer of 2017, the Wells Village Library plans to provide free park passes to many Vermont State parks and historic sites.
The passes allow one to gain entrance to most day use areas and historic sites. Stop in to borrow a pass for a period of three days. As a library card holder, you can receive free entry for up to eight people in one vehicle.
Learn something new today! Take an online course with real instructors, 24/7 access via the internet. Select from over 500 courses such as nutrition, crafts, medical terminology, stress management and photography. Speak to the librarian about signing up for a class. This free service is brought to you by the Vermont Department of Libraries. Please ask Joy or Erin for more details.
Note: There are no bathroom facilities at the library. We apologize for the inconvenience.
